BEING AS AN OCEAN

Today we have an American Hardcore band, Being As An Ocean. These guys deliver sounds of Melodic/ Post Hardcore and even touch on Spoken Word, especially on their first album from 2012, "Dear G-D..". Since their formation in 2011 Being As An Ocean have released 3 albums all with Invogue Records including a couple singles. A fourth album will be arriving this year titled "Waiting For Morning To Come" and it releases June 9, 2017, through Equal Vision Records. If you like bands with them clean and scream sounds then give these guys a listen. I will share two great tracks from them. And for Vinyl fans, Being As An Ocean has a vast assortment of eye candy pressings to see and purchase, there are even cassettes out there. Well lets dig into a few tracks from Being As An Ocean including their newest single from 2016.

PEARL JAM "Vs." Vinyl

Today on Vinyl we have rock band, Pearl Jam's second album, "Vs." from 1993. This album is a great follow up from their  amazing debut album, "Ten". The cd album cover is a little different from the vinyl variation. I will picture it below.  First, this 2016 pressing is done with 180g vinyl and sounds great going around the groove. The vinyl is housed in a gatefold jacket and comes with with a lyric sheet with art on one side and photographs of the band on the other. I personally love this album, I picked this vinyl at Barnes and Noble, I got the cd a thrift store, and I also was able to find this album on cassette at a flea market in Delaware. You can get almost anything Pearl Jam on vinyl whether its singles or albums. Their library of music is something worth digging deeper in. Well lets take a look at this vinyl.

This is the cd cover version.

ALLISTER "Last Stop Suburbia" Vinyl

Today's Monday so that means we bring out another vinyl to show. The vinyl this week is pop punk band Allister's third album from 2002 "Last Stop Suburbia" on a beautiful Red Starburst vinyl LP. This is out of a limited pressing of 200 records re-issued by Mutant League Records (Indie Chicago label). The original pressing came from Drive Thru Records (New Found Glory). All three guitar and bass players share lead and backing vocals throughout the album. "Last Stop Suburbia" did land them on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts in the number 9 spot. This band was popular but never really huge and maybe you haven't heard of them, but if you are into Pop Punk then I would recommend giving Allister a listen. In total their discography spans 5 albums from 1999 to 2012. It doesn't seem like Allister isn't much of a band anymore with most of the band mates doing their own things now, but maybe out of nowhere they will announce something. Well lets take a look at this pretty vinyl and finish with a track from it.

Has the shrink wrap on it still

Red Starburst vinyl with a picture of the band and lyrics on the back

Back of the vinyl jacket, I guess you could say sunny side down.

ACTIVE BIRD COMMUNITY

Today we have the Indie Rock band from NYC, Active Bird Community. These guys actually started this band back in 2005 when they were around 10 years old. The band has always delivered an 90s feel to their music. After years went by the band matured and grew into something special and started to gain a fan base with their Garage Pop/ Indie Rock. So far three full length albums an a few EPs have been released by ABC along with their latest album, "Stick Around" being released earlier this year. This band is on the climb fast growing quickly with a good future ahead of them being only in their early 20s now. Lets give them a listen, a follow, a like,.....you know.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD "self titled" Vinyl

Today is a vinyl day, and on vinyl we have Avenged Sevenfold's self titled album from 2007. This is a 2016 pressing from FYE packaged with 2 LPs in a gatefold jacket with a download card. This pressing is also out of 500 copies with the nice white with black splatter. There are many hits on this album that we may all know like "Critical Acclaim", "Dear God", "Almost Easy", and "A Little Piece of Heaven". Although this album does have a few slower rock songs on it, it is a little heavier than previous releases. This also the last album before the death of their drummer, James"The Rev" Sullivan in 2009. Their next album, "Nightmare" was dedicated to him and did include some of his vocals as well. Well lets check out this double LP and then a song from the album.
